Trials are arguably the oldest form of motorsport – with events in the early 20th century
attracting huge support from manufacturers. In the early days of NWCC, Standard Car Trials
were extremely popular and the Cymru Trial soon became established as one of the top events.
The Cymru has maintained BTRDA status ever since, and more recently gained British Championship
status. The discipline is now called Production Car Trials and provides competitors with
low-cost motorsport that requires and teaches great skills of clutch and throttle control in
standard production cars.
